Thursday PM-Last Snowmobile day

Today's adventure was special, nor only was it a special Valentines Day  with lots o0f sunshine but today was our last day snowmobiling.  It has been a great week but its time to pack and go.
5 miles from nowhere we found a YURT that they use for emergencies.  Yes that is a grill, you have to have some of the comforts of home.  A YURT  has a ridig frame but canvas sides and top with a platform floor, there are several in the National Forest back country.
This YURT has bunk beds a camp stove, sturdy wood burning stove all the survival gear you would need.
If you could enlarge this photo you would see that I am in it also but Judith takes all the free space and her purple snowsuit claims the spotlight.

                                                      My Special Valentine !
Caught Lennis coming out of the john at the YURT.  Like I said all the comforts of home.

                                                Tree huggers they are.
That is the woodshed behind the snowmobile.

Hope you have enjoyed the blog for the past few weeks, we will pack out tomorrow and head East.  Lennis and Judy are staying out West another 10 days or so to visit some places, while Judith and I travel to LA (Lower Alabama). See You !

Thursday 14 Feb-Happy Valentines Day

Today finds us with two beautiful Valentines ready to go on another adventure.  The girls say the ride on the snowmobiles helps to prepare them for ridding a power scooter.
We stopped at a warming hut high in the mountains, but the girls were complaining, there was no fire so warming hut only meant you were out of the wind, there was a stove and bunks just in case the weather really was bad.
The Aspen groves are beautiful, Aspen grow from a single root system and have not been hit with disease like the Pines with the Pine Bark Beetle.

Judy Lee has checked out the " Little House Behind the Big House".

Yes that is Judith coming out of the warming hut, all revived and ready to go again.

Fresh snow and the beauty of Gods creation, what could be better?

Wednesday, Next to last day of Snowmobiling

Snowmobile's are a strange bread kinda likes bikers, they have a warped since of humor, light snow again today with higher temps, almost got up to freezing.
Talk about the "Straight and Narrow", great place to snowmobile, lots of repaired trails and lots of open meadows to try out the powder.
Lennis taking a coffee break. We went to the highest spot on the trail "Bald Mt" 10,557 ft tons of snow.
The meadows are beautiful, snow 60 inches or deeper and powder to the bottom, does nor really pack down.
                                                                      More Meadows.
And more still.  It is a great adventure ridding in the deep snow, cold enough not to melt and soft and fluffy as feathers.
He looks warm but may be frozen in place. Wind chill in in the minus numbers when we are ridding, thank goodness for headed hand grips.

Snow  will build up on the trees but its so cold it won't stick, lots of \Pine , Fur and Aspen.
Lots of campgrounds with toilets enough shelter to get you out of the wind.
We are still getting a bit of sunshine.
The snowmobiles only sink 12-18 inches into the powder until you start to turn then look out.  We turned our machine on its side in 6 ft of snow today and trapped Judith's led under it.  No injuries because the snow was soft but had to dig her out which took several minutes.  Once we got Judith out Lennis and myself flipped the machine over and we were on our way again, but I think the fun was over for the day.
                                           Headed home.
Check back tomorrow for our last day.

Crazy Snowmibilers

What a beautiful day to enjoy Gods creation and its beauty.  Lots of sunshine but still cold with some light snow and more on the way.  We took trails up to Christmas Meadows which is a bit above 9,000 ft and is on the edge of the Uintas Wilderness area. No other snow machines had been in the area since the last big snow so we were making fresh tracks everywhere we went.
I am getting more accustomed to the snow machine and having a back seat driver so close.

Christmas Meadows is beautiful, maybe 50/75 acres open area in the mist of the National Forest with several feet of untouched snow, what beauty.

Judith insisted on a picture in the untouched snow, I tried to tell her that once we walked to the spot for a photo the snow would no longer be untouched, oh well maybe I can photo shop out our footprints.

Lennis has most of his clothes on but is still cold, here he is taking a nap after a exhausting session of getting dressed.
Check back tomorrow

It was -11 at 0700 this morning and Judith and Lennis could not get warm even in the cabin, however the sun is shinning and if we ever get ready we will get out and enjoy the beauty of the area.

Getting dressed in the morning is a major undertaking which takes several hours (ok it takes a Long time maybe not hours), but everyone else is very slow getting ready--then you ave to go outside because yo have to many clothes on to stay inside

Judith (yes that is Judith) is trying to celebrate getting ready.  Its a coumminity thing , everyone needs to get ready about the same time in order to avoid heatstroke.

The seats are not heated on the snowmobiles, here Judith demonstrates how to gently ease on to the cold seats, purple snowsuit may not be the only thing that's purple.

Judy and Lennis make a lovely couple but don't be fooled they are both complaining about how much time I am taking getting the photo.
More after today's adventure.

Day 1- Snow Mobile Fun

Fresh snow covers the machines as we prepair to pickout our equipment, temp around 14 but suppose to get up to 21 today.  You should have seen us getting dressed, a sight to behold.

My bride in her snowsuit, 2 pair of long johns, 2 sweat shirts, 3 pair of socks then the snowsuit, she is still complaining about being cold, also she can't walk, or move her arms.

Lennis has made Carhart stock soar, red long johns with trap door, insulated Carharts, snow boots, we all look like something out of a fashion book ( REDNECK FASHION)

I forgot to give the cabin key to the girls so they wait impatiently on the stoop, complaining about the snow and chilly weather, just can't please them.

Check out the Whittingtons, we look like the Pillsbury dough boy, but we match, both purple to match the bruises after the ride.
The National Forest, 1.2 million acres is just out our back door

The convenience store is the only thing for 30 miles, you can guess what the prices are.  Nothing is on sale!

Lennis and Larry check out the machines while Judith supervises.

The Whittingtons are ready at last.

Steak Night, after a hard days fun.

Moose forage for food just out the back door, we have seen several moose today.
Visit with us again tomorrow, and enjoy the beauty of Gods Creation.
