Day 4--A Day Of Rest

Day 4 and we decided we needed a day of rest! We went out for a big breakfast and the prices have not changed-still HIGH. George went back to the condo while Tink and went sight seeing.

Ever seen a better looking specimen of a senior citizen?

First stop, Main Street, Park City the next several photos show some of the historic buildings along Main Street. Park City was a mining town starting in late 1700's. They found gold, silver and copper, many of the main street buildings are from the mid 1800's.

Then on to Midway, where the HGTV dream home is located. Snow is in the forecast for later today and weather is partly clouded and temp about 33.

This home is a spec home in the same development as the HGTV home (the only other home in the development) and Tink and myself both think it is more attractive than the HGTV home ( at least on the outside).

This is the HGTV home, its about 15 miles from Park City and the nearest skiing is about 10 miles which is the back of Deer Valley. Its located in a new development in a rural area a couple of miles from Midway and about 5 miles from Heber City. Heber City is where the Mormons first settled then went to Salt Lake City about 40 miles away.

The area around Midway was first settled by Swiss immigrants and the area has maintained a European / Swiss flavor. Many of the homes have the traditional outside wall paintings that you may see in southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The building above is the Boar's Head Inn and is located across from a State Park in Midway.

Tink and myself explored the Dairy of the first Swiss settler. A small home and the creamery are still standing and are in the state park.

Tink checks out the creamery.

Homestead property.

Beautiful homes in the Bavarian style.

Note the wall paintings around the second story windows.

While in Midway we found a bakery with fresh sweets, we couldn't resist. We bought some to bring back to George, an't we nice. Tink left his wallet on the counter and the store called the numbers in Tinks wallet until he found Peggy then she called me (Bill's phone was in his pocket but was not on). Tink went to get his wallet while I went to get the car then I went to pick him up--only to find out I had left my jacket in the bakery coffee shop. Tink and I cannot go out alone anymore.

Bakery sign.

Another great day, nice time exploring the country side and seeing the sights.

Tomorrow we will ski at Deer Valley.

Thanks to Murray (layed out a exercise program for me) I have not been sore at all and the legs are in great shape.

Check back tomorrow for photos from Deer Valley.
