March 16
Wednesday, off day-- no ski and we are better for it! Sleep late, eat large then on to the sledding slopes for some family fun, I think. We have had a relaxing day and it was the best day to take off the temp was in the 50 and the snow turned to slush early so skiing was not very good. Suppose to turn colder tonight so skiing should be better tomorrow.
Travis the boys& Grandpa all had a turn on the sledding hill, no takers from the girls and Murray said broken bones were not in his future so off we went to adventure then an afternoon looking in the shops of Breckenridge.
Breckenridge was founded in 1865 during the silver rush and was a Western mining town. Some of the old style store fronts remain but the shopping is for the tourist( Rich ones). We were thinking the crowds were bad this week but some of the store workers told us that next week when Colorado schools were on Spring break the crowds will be much worse.

15 March, Family Vacation
Tuesday, great weather, fresh snow, and we are not fighting--yet! There are large crowds so lift lines everywhere, however about 1130 the lines really dropped and we could ski without stopping.
Conner enters the kids adventure area ( which scared Travis), Conner's skiing has greatly improved and he can follow us anywhere, but he has great concern that we will lead him onto the black slopes (advanced skier).

Beautiful weather, lots of sunshine but cool enough to keep the snow solid, what moore could you ask for? The lift lines were bad today, I think ever skier in Texas was on the mountain today, but the worse day skiing is better than the best day of work. It would be complete if Brooks/ Leighann and Everett were here then the entire Whittington clan would be togather, maybe next year.

Day 2 Family Ski Vacation 13 March
We had 5 inches of snow last night and everyone from Denver came to the mountain to ski today. We arose early this morning because we had a great variety of times due to Daylight savings time change. We finally got things straight and got on the slopes about 0830(real time). Chandler has grown some so had to go get some rental boots, 12's, that boy is growing into his feet.
Hard to see Tyler with his camo outfit, but that's him,

lots of new snow and it snowed on and off most of the day
Chandler is the only snowboarder among all us skiers, but he holds his own, (most of the time)

First day family ski vacation 11 March
Murray and myself left home at 0330 Friday morning and arrived in Denver 0500 Sat. 27 hours to drive 1584 miles and average 21 miles to the gallon. Diesel prices were $3.75 to $4.02 with $ 3.89 being the most common. Murray and myself drove straight through and picked Judith, Jana and Cody up at 1000 Sat morning, then on to the Air Force Base in Denver to stock up before driving the final 100 miles to Breckenridge. Travis and his family drove from home (Fort Worth) 830 miles and arrived at the condo about 1400. We arrived about 1530 and the unloading began, (a major task)
Judith and Tyler go for a walk before they can start work, still lots of snow on the ground and suppose to snow tonight (11 March)

The Whittingtons may do a lot of nutty things but we eat well, I thought we had ENOUGH FOOD brought from home but we had to go grocery shopping and here's the result, we brought everything but the kitchen sink
Judith and Connor, (Travis and Patty's youngest)
Cody travels in style, he has his own music, own snacks and two women to wait on him. But he is not spoiled!
Travis and Murray relaxing after the long drive.
Chandler (on the couch) and Tyler sit up the TV and DVD system.
